Today we continued our ongoing Safety and Security training. Our regional Safety and Security officer is an Uzbek citizen employed by the US government to teach us how to minimize our risks and have a safe Peace Corps experience. He teaches us everything to how to avoid being a target, to how to escape dangerous situations. Today he talked about past political tensions, the IMU (Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan), and where the Uzbek government has placed land mines to defuse these situations.

Countless hours of safety and security training paired up with strict medical criteria, and large medical kits, supports my idea that people in the Peace Corps are some of the safest and healthiest people in the world.
