Hi everyone
Holidays have now truly started ! We spent a transition day in Darwin (grumpy grumpy : reservation lost, price inflation at 2.30 in the morning, no choice but to comply or sleep in the streeet, noisy dorms), followed by 2 (way too short) days in Singapore to catch-up with Romain, Albane and their daughter Louise (some fantastic friends back from Brussels) and release the pressure of the last weeks. Chilling out next to the pool, strolling in Singapore streets, drinking late at night (late is slightly later for Joel than for Marija) and sleeping in to recover the next mornings... What a better way to feel on holiday than waking up with a nice (!) cigar and cognac taste in your mouth, and a massive headache :)

Our second time around in singapore was quite different from the first
Darwin
. For a start it was at the beginning of the holiday, not at the end. Ergo, no shopping this time, just winding down and relaxing. We are grateful to romain and albane for indulging us with lovely meals and poolside drinks. I only have one complaint - they didn't reveal any of joel's secrets!!Marija

Enfin les vacances ! Depart de Melbourne le vendredi, apres un godet avec les collegues, direction Darwin (cote Nord de l'Australie) pour une journee d'etape. Bon debut : arrive a 2.30 du mat, reservation perdues, staff de l'auberge de jeuness qui cherche a nous refiler une chambre double a deux fois le prix, et finalement nuit en dortoirs separes et bruyants. Bon, le lendemain etait cool a paresser au soleil. Vol le soir pour arrivee a Singapoure accueilli par Romain et Albane. Trois ans sans ce voir, que d'emotions! Enchainement immediat en mode piche a contreblock (traduction pour les non inities : caipirinhia et discussion jusque 4 h du mat'). Deux jours trop courts a decompresser, se ballader dans les rues de Singapoure, boire tard le soir (tard signifiant un peu plus tard pour Joel que pour Marija, question d'entrainement), et cuver le lendemain matin

. Quel meilleur maniere (paroles de Joel) de se sentir en vacance que de se reveiller avec une vieille pateuse de cognac / cigar et un marteau piqueur dans le crane !Joel
Le second passage a Singapoure a ete tres different du premier. D'abord, c'etait en debut de vacances, donc pas de finances pour faire du shopping, juste se la couler douce and se reposer. On remercie Romain et Albane de nous avoir gate avec leur excellente cuisine et les godets au bord de la piscine. Je n'ai qu'un seul regret : Ils ne m'ont revele aucun secret de la vie passee de Joel !

PS : pas de photos pour le moment, on exrit d'un cybercafe en Chine, et pas de connection USB pour transferer les photos... Trop dangeureux ???

Ugh... Darwin
Hi Guys,
I can't say I'm surprised with the whole Darwin experience, though I am sorry to hear that it was disappointing and by the sounds of things quite frustrating! My philosophy, not that you asked for it or anything, is that if they live in the ground in bizzare little hut.cave things, then best to avoid the place! Or is that Kalgoorlie? Oh well you guys know what I mean!!!!
Anyway, everything is soooo exciting back home as you can probably imagine! Work, work and more work... huge surprise there! Update on every one? Ok I'll give it you anyway. It is official Helen has lost her tan (but don't tell her I said that! She insists it's alive and well!). Kristen is good and as usual PIC comments fly about with complete disregard! Glenn same same... giggling like a little girl and keeping us entertained. Who have I forgotten? Oh yes Russ, man oh man, that guy has a never ending repetoire of preofusely BAD jokes. I'm convinced it is bottomless, though funny nevertheless. Caz isn't back yet. Johnny is good, though he had a car accident on Sunday and his girlfriend broke her neck! She's ok though, thank god. And lastly, Clint is off to Paris today for three weeks for a conference, so lucky him, not so lucky us stuck back in the office.
Well that's it from me, sorry I waffled on! I hope you guys are having a wonderful time. I miss you already and it's only been a week!
