Nashville bound ! The home of country music and those gay cowboy boots. At least I should fit in with my cowboy hat. Unfortunately I won't anywhere else in the US though and now I have to carry the feckin thing with me everywhere.

Not much to report today as I spent half of it catching a bus, half of it boozing and the other half catching up on my blog entries. Yes, that is 3 halves.

I was up early to get a cab to the Memphis Greyhound station which is located out by the airport, some 20 minutes from town. Ironic that the 20 minute cab ride cost me $25, yet the 4 hour bus trip from Memphis to Nashville only cost me $11.50

I was looking forward to seeing the quality of the passengers who travel on Greyhound. If I am the benchmark, then things ain't looking good. Because it is so cheap to travel by bus here, you tend to get a lower class of passenger travelling. I have heard some horror stories but I gotta say it wasn't that bad. The bus was good and it had free wi-fi on it as well as power points to charge your devices. The Memphis Greyhound terminal was surprisingly flash and the people didn't look any worse than me. The bloody bus even got into Nashville 20 minutes ahead of schedule !

I grabbed a cab to my hotel which turned out to be the same slum that me and the boys stayed at on my last visit to Nashville. Unfortunately my room wasn't ready so I couldn't check in. I dropped off my pack and headed for the city which is about a 25 minute walk from the hotel.

The Main Street in Nashville, Broadway, is pretty much where it all happens and it is way cool. It's pretty much full of bars, cowboy boot shops and souvenir shops. I wasn't keen on cowboy boots and didn't need any souvenirs so that only left one thing....

The first bar I visited was Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville which is a big chain here in the US. Cool bar, free wi-fi and great music. I grabbed some lunch before heading off to the next bar down the street, and the next bar, and the next bar after that.

Each bar had talented musicians plying their trade. Now ordinarily I can tolerate country music in small doses but in Nashville there is very little else. That being said, I could sit and listen to most of the bands here all day. They are that good.

Around 5ish I started my trek back to the hotel and checked in. I ended up in the room next door to the one I stayed at last time. It had the same layout and the same shit decor. This is the worst hotel I have stayed at so far on my trip but for $40 a night, who was I to complain. The $40 included free wi-fi and also breakfast - GOLD !

I decided to skip dinner, settle in for the night and update my blog. Yeah, yeah I know, pretty boring but tomorrow it is off to see Mr Jack so I need to be in top physical condition for that :)

Over and out.
