Where I stayed
The weather gods have certainly been generous to us so far, as we meandered under warm cloudless skies through the high desert country of Central Oregon, then climbed to the ridgeline of the Cascade Mountains where we detoured to take in the drop-dead beauty of Crater Lake. I’m not sure if we’re becoming a bit “over-enamored” with the beauty of this earth a little too early in our adventure, but I gotta go back to what I said the other day: this part of the world has some of the most beautiful scenery you can find anywhere
Departing Crater Lake enroute to our destination for today led us through the still-pristine forests of Southern Oregon, which caused John to jump into yet another déjà vu mode as he returned to the playground of his youth. Growing up in Southern Oregon for his first 15 years, these hills were where he used to go biking, rock-throwing, snow-sledding, and anything else kids could find themselves doing with their boundless energy and imagination. Of course, these déjà vu moments came replete with babbling stories for Benjamin and Lisha, which I’m not sure quite held as much interest for them as it was a time for me to relive my adolescent glory days! Big surprsie, huh!?!? ;-)
After driving by to gaze at the old house in Medford where John was born, we were off to the beautiful Williams valley to stay with John’s cousin Deb for a couple of days
