What a hoot!  We wanted to head to Luckenbach to see what Waylon Jennings song was all about.
The adventure started with a missed turn.  We drove for what seemed forever on a small country road.  Now just because you are on a county road does not mean you are driving slower around the twists and turns.  The speed slows to 60 mph, yes slows, the posted speed is 70 mph.  At least being on some road off the beaten track meant less traffic.  However, it was very disconcerting when a car to come up behind us as I was not going the posted speed.

We had no idea as to where we were going on this road.  We did manage to ask someone who told us to keep going then turn right at the T intersection.  Upon arriving there, many miles later, we pulled into the next gas station to ask for further directions.  I asked about a map of the area.  They gave me another touristy one, but the problem for me was that I really didn't really know where I was.  My next question was, "Where am I?".  The clerk and other customers laughed. I was in Fredericksburg.  Oh, that is where we wanted to end up after Lukenback, so we were okay. We were only a few miles from our destination.

Next stop was a farmer's field to park, dust everywhere.   It was a short walk to the three buildings of Luckenbach The first was a postoffice that was packed, so nothing was bought.
We bought a cherry lemonade and sat and listened to the music.  Please take a listen to the short video clip.  Also go to the App store and listen to Waylon Jennings
There was a wide range of individuals who had dropped in.  Mostly bikers with lots of tattoos. I gather the place was really hopping on Sat. night.

We hung around for an hour and soaked in the sun.  The temperature had soared to 94.
