One does not see any pan handling in the streets. It is not allowed. I guess the mild climate allows for more homeless to live here, but how they survive is a guess.
Everyone is friendly and willing to talk. It makes going out for dinner or even just coffee fun. Tonight we met a girl from Tehran, she won a lottery to come to America . I never knew that is how indivuduals came to immigrate to the US. After she is a citizen, she will bring over her sister. She loves Iran but is proud to be living in America. She says we should be thankful for all we have
State Street is the happening street in SB. However, I prefer the beaches or the places that are less crowded. In the later part of the evening, the street kids come out and take over the part of this trendy street.
Montecito two miles south SB is very wealthy. Most of the houses have private gates and one cannot see behind them. The rich really are getting wealthier in the states.
The amazing thing is that the area is very green and flowers are everywhere. Most individuals take pride in their homes, even our homeless man in a wheelchair kept his dumpster corner tidy.
The best thing about the area is the miles of public beaches. The sand is clean for the most part. Dogs rule here. They are on mostly on leash, but allowed everywhere. Aside from the dogs, families are enjoying the beaches as well.
