So basically this birthday was awesome! I couldn't have asked for a better day and I didn't plan on even celebrating. Today was also our sea Olympics which is like all the competition of camp back in the day rolled up into 14 hours of bonding and competing. IT WAS AMAZING! We all had so much fun. The Berrien Sea has been preparing ever since we first got on the ship but we basically threw everything together last minute. We had two meetings for the Olympics, one two days ago to sign up for events, and another yesterday to teach everyone the main chant. Basically I was expecting for it to be a train wreck but we pulled together incredibly well. It was really funny because about halfway through the opening ceremony Jenny (my RD) remarked that this was probably the first time our entire sea had actually been together which is hilarious because most seas meet at least once a week but most of our sea doesn't show up due to the fact that we aren't the most responsible sea. The morning started with us all meeting at 8:40am to get our pirate patches on and get together to march into the auditorium and dance with our chant. Once we got into the auditorium we realized that everyone else had much better coordinated chants and dances than we did so Jeffrey being the amazing guy he is decided that he would go up and introduce us and adlib our intro. He got a little carried away but it worked and we got third for our chant and introduction. He was amazing today and I'm so happy that he was our sea captain. After introductions, where we all decided that we wanted to cream the Berrien Sea, we all headed up to the seventh deck to watch, and cheer, for the synchronized swimming competition. Our sea was amazing! I loved it. Then we all headed to watch the egg, crab, wheelbarrel race and then to the union to cheer on our board game team. It was so much fun. After a few more events we all went to lunch, taco day which is the best lunch we get on the ship, and it was there that the entire cafeteria was informed it was my birthday so my sea all decided to sing to me. The only problem was that I had never even met half of them so only katina was at my table to say my name. It was hilarious. Then I decided to take a nap. Since I wasn't doing the flippy cup anymore I slept thru both the dodge ball and twister. I wish I wouldn't have but I was so sleep deprived I definitely needed it. The captain then came over the announcements and told us that there were dolphins on the port side so I ran up to see them only to be disappointed. But it did get me out of bed and then we all ended up hanging out by the pool while waiting for the next events. The next main event was the tug-of-war which we dominated! It was so much fun. It was then that we all headed to the union for the chubby bunny contest which was actually a cake contest since we don't have any marshmallows on the boat. The Hotel manager, our head chef guy, decided that it was a day to celebrate so we had a barbeque for dinner. That is the best dinner of the voyage so it was really exciting. Then at dinner I got sang to again and then yet again when we celebrated with my cake which said bubbilicius for all you olivet girls! (they love my bubblious shirt! And Jeff now calls me booblious) It was really nice though and one of my profs was walking by so he joined us for cake. We then all got back into our sea spirit and went into the union for closing ceremonies. In the end my sea got second place, which was amazing and means that we are the second group to get off the boat. I don't know if that's good or bad but we were excited to get 2nd. It was so much fun!
