"A Rush of Blood to the Head"

(Cold Play - and a jolly fine album it was...)
In the end it only cost 6 euros at the Swatch shop for a new battery to fix my watch. But a rush of blood to the head nearly had me paying 99 euros for a new watch in an absolutely charming watch-shop on the Ile St. Louis this morning. A whole shop of stunningly stylish watches like we never see in Melbourne. In fact, this city has shops selling so many things that are unlike anything we see in Melbourne. The only consolation was that the Le Creuset casserole I have thought about long and hard was no cheaper here. And my bag is overweight already. We did a self-guided walk around the Ile St. Louis this morning - the smaller, more residential island in the Seine, west of Notre Dame's Ile de la Citie. Notable old homes (Madame Curie's,) delightful shops for both locals and tourists and the mounted Gendarmes Band passing through.
We then picked up the remaining loop of the tourist bus for a ride around St. Germain and the Left Bank before I headed home for some respite from today's sun. Dinner was back in that region where there are endless tiny cafes with owners touting out the front. Think Lygon Street with Greek food in French! The warm evening was conducive to a slow walk home and some nice photos in the golden dusk sun. More thumbnails ...
