Well we knew exactly what we would be doing before we even hit Medellin. After hearing so many reports of wild nights out and not much else from other travellers. We moved into a pretty nice hostel with a pool table and a 100cm plasma tv which got a serious workout. We spent the first few days exploring the city and kicking back (surprise surprise). The city itself was really modern and well laid out with a train running from one end to the other making it easy to get around. The people were also the friendliest in Colombia and we definitely got less stares. The suburb we were staying in was pretty ritzier and safe which was a nice change. There was also a basketball / soccer court and a ghetto gym just down the road which suited me fine as my man boobs were starting to put strain on my lower back :0) The rain also continued to rear its head everyday much like Cali. We didn't care much as we used it as the perfect excuse to sit in front of the massive tv and watch DVDs.
Bit blurry but it sums up the end of the night.

By the time the weekend rolled around our eyes were square from watching movies and the world cup and it was definitely time to scrub up and hit the town. Friday night we headed out with a girl Claudia who lives next door to the hostel. She took us out to a cool little bar/club called El Deck. The crowd in the bar was really friendly and we soon found ourselves cutting up the rug to some very decent tunes. No regatone or salsa in earshot :0) The night seemed to end way too quickly but I needed to save a little energy for Saturday night anyway.
Sat night was another fantastic blur of colour and toxic drinks. Matty and I were a little groggy but keen all the same to check out the famous Mangos club. Nick on the other hand had spent the whole day in bed and still wasn't feeling well after his valiant efforts at the bar the night before.
When we arrived at the entrance to Mangos we were a little confused. I had been expecting this big trendy nightclub. Well it was big but it wasn't exactly your everyday club. The place was more like a carnival side ally in the Wild West. Every wall and bit of roof was plastered with cowboy memorabilia and um well pretty much junk. Stuffed animals, wanted signs, barrels and cart wheels it was all there. The place also had 5 or so stages where groups of performers strutted their stuff. The performers consisted of street dancers, dressed up cowboy midgets and scantly clad girls made from more plastic than a lego set. It was an odd mix but it seemed to work as the place was pumping. Sadly our night was short lived as drinks were super expensive and our pockets were dry after our 5th drink. Probably the best thing about the club though was the cup of soup or stock water they give you on exit. I think this should be mandatory for all clubs!

So after another huge blurry weekend we gave ourselves a day to recover then moved on to the next city Bogota.
