After a few short rides on local buses we found ourselves in the cool little town of Pacasmayo. Some friends from Chicama had recommended the Folores hostel and we were soon unpacking our bags in a nice double room overlooking the 9 or some hammocks in the yard. Fantastic. The hostel was pretty much a surfers hang out and was well equipped with all the things you need when the surfs flat DVD player, internet, table tennis and 3 kitchens.
We met a heap of crew from all over the place including home, brazil, new zealand and england. Our friends from Chicama also turned up a few days later so we had some good company everyday.
We spent about a week in Pacasmayo surfing and kicking back in the hammocks it was fantastic. We scored some big days out at the point with waves just as long as Chicama. Some waves were so long you couldn't stand up by the time you hit the beach
Nick and I also managed to play some of the hardest games of pool ever in one of the local pubs. There were 4 tables in the pub and all were handmade. One was even missing pockets which I couldn't figure out?? The tables were built with the pockets being just large enough to have about 2 mil either side of the ball. There was also no curve into the pocket which made sinking anything almost impossible. If you didn't have a strait shot you had nothing and there was no way you could use the cushions. It was good for a laugh. One game went for nearly an hour or long enough to drink 3 liters of beers each.
I really enjoyed Pacasmay and we settled into a good routine of surfing cooking and reading in the hammocks. But sure enough time flew and it was time to head north to the desert town of Lobitos.

. You then had to walk about 10 minutes back to the point and paddle out again.Nick and I also managed to play some of the hardest games of pool ever in one of the local pubs.
