Ok all before I start I better clear up my last entry as I have received some concerned emails from family and friends.
In my last entry for Lima I mentioned meeting some drug dealers who were in a singing troop. I wrote that the son had given us a few lines on the street and it was pretty decent. For some reason people thought this meant lines of cocaine. It was lines of a song I mean really lets keep it above board.... Anyway we hadn't planned to go to Huanchaco and didn't even know that it existed until we arrived in the town of Trujillo and a cab driver explained it was close and had some good surf. Huanchaco was only a very sea side town with only a few restaurants, shops and a couple of bars. The surf consisted of a fat playful left hand point break that winds its way down to a pier. Our first day in Huanchaco was also Nicks 26th birthday. Nick had decided earlier in Lima that he would like to be surfing for his big day. Unfortunately the surf wasn't cranking for him and it was pretty inconsistent. We still managed to paddle out and have the waves to ourselves for a couple of hours. So all in all it was good fun. That night we headed out to a Mexican bar and restaurant for a few beers and a tortilla. The little bar was pretty cool and overlooked the ocean across the street. Being a sunday though the bar was pretty empty but a local band did come in for a few songs which livened the place up for a while. We spent another 2 days just surfing and eating too much as always. The nice owners of the hotel we were staying at had given us full access to the kitchen in the restaurant on the top floor which we put to good use everyday cooking endless pots of 2 minute noodles. The wave in town was fun but not exactly what we were looking for so we organised to jump on a day trip to Chicama with out gear so we could stay there a few nights then keep heading north. So we were up early the next morning cramming 15 people and 10 surfboards into a bongo van then we were on our way to Chicama one of the longest waves in the world.
