maybe then you wouldn't be let down
growing up with a mother who is in love with Halloween
and making the most decorated house in our neighborhood for years
I have come to love Halloween and it is my favorite holiday
yes....it beats out Christmas
however, upon arriving in Salem
I realized it was merely a tourist trap
granted the place is cute and so are the historic houses
but my mothers yard and front porch have more decorations than any I saw in all of Salem
I saw a few pumpkins but houses in Boston and Rhode Island were more decorated than this
I got there....parked and was going to go for a tour in an old House which said was free in the booklet I had received when in all actuality, it was 10 dollars to tour it.
maybe if I wasn't by myself I could find some joy in all of it
but there were tour buses full of people piling out and crowding the streets
I'm not one to complain about crowds but it made the novelty of what I thought historic Salem to be....well....not novel
and in no way haunted.
I don't think I could pretend to be scared there.
Oh well....it was a nice drive through on the road trip and I'm happy I previewed it before I went there for Halloween. Guess I will stick to my Trail of Terror in Minnesota.
