Only been a couple of days since my last post, gonna try and keep it like that so that I don't forget things and don't keep having to write a ridiculous amount each time I post anything.
Anyway on Sunday I didn't really get up to much in particular, just stayed in Khairos (where I've been staying in Phnom Penh for the last couple of weeks) and relaxed after the full on week that was the dental mobile and prison.
Although most of the day was spent on the computer trying to sort out my indian visa..the most ridiculous process, literally the website is so ridiculous that it gives you like a temporary ID to sign in with if you dont complete it all in one go etc then if you try to sign in using it, it just wont work..and ontop of that they dont have a printer here so i ha to go through a very long process to finally end up with a hard copy but all gor sorted in the end.
Then in the evening 6 dental students from Sheffield arrived, so we all had dinner and got chatting and they all seemed really nice although a bit shy and stuff because they'd only just arrived in Cambodia. Anyway after eating they all had an induction meeting kinda thing so they knew exactly what they would be doing, as this week they are off on a mobile ( similar to what I did last week). Then me and James and Seb ( one of the Sheffield lot) headed to Trailblazer (another one2one accommodation in Phnom Penh) because the rest if the people had to use our room. Trailblazer was really nice tho, much more just like a guest house tho and not as many people around so not as good but still ha a good time there. And it was only one night anyway.
Then in the morning we had breakfast and headed back to Khairos. Where I would get a Tuk Tuk to the Indian embassy to finally try and sort out my visa. I honestly thought that it wouldn't work out because the guy there had been so frustrating before but luckily after a lot of queuing it was sorted, so I just have to go back on Thursday to collect my passport. Then I went to try and extend my Cambodian visa but it costs $45 even tho I only need another 5 days! But apparently when you get to te airport, if you've overrun your visa you just pay $5 for each day you went over by Sonoma just gonna do that instead. Then we went to shop to buy memory sticks so I can keep all my pictures on it and their actually pretty cheap here (I think..don't really know general prices of memory sticks) but $20 for 16gb sounded pretty good. Anyway I then found out that paying in a shop in Cambodia takes FOR EVER, literally once I handed them what u wanted and gave them the money I was waiting for a good 10 mins before I was given my receipt and memory stick! Ridiculous.
Anyway, after that we went to have a massage at a place where all the masseus's (no idea if that's right or not basically massage people) are blind, so some I the money goes to a help the blind in Cambodia. And I have to say it was pretty damn painful. They click out all your toes and everything, and seem to seek out any pressure points on your body and then push it really hard. At some points I was literally thinking 'am I seriously paying for this to be done to me?!' but I have to say, once it's finished I felt so much better than before, and at only $5 for an hour it's pretty damn good value.
In the evening I got my deck of cards out and tried out some magic tricks on some of the people here which was hilarious. Don't know whether they just don't really get magic tricks her at all but they were blown away by the simplist I tricks. So we all had a good laugh as they tried to do them and failed. Eventually I told a couple I them how to do the tricks and now they're doing them on each other all the time. The masterpiece will never be revealed tho..
Today I've just been lounging aroun at Khairos again as James is ill so just playing cards and watching films and stuff.
Anyway that's all or now..
