For her birthday, she got to sleep in while I went running. I ran through the historic King William neighborhood with lots of old Victorian houses, through Hemisphair Park, then around the Alamo.
For breakfast, I thought that I would be nice and take her to brunch at the Tower of the Americas www.sanantoniocvb.com/tower_of_the_americas.asp. Unfortunately, they did not serve breakfast there so Mariana was very disappointed. Instead, we left San Antonio for Austin and got her some pancakes at a local Cracker Barrel. She was really anxious to watch Brazil play in the World Cup so we drove all over looking for a sports bar. We finally found one but, unfortunately, Brazil lost to France.
After that, we finished up our short trip (about 80 miles) to Austin. In Austin, we stayed at the Hyatt but had another handicap room.
Austin was a lot of fun. We started off at some Mexican bar on 6th Street for drinks and appetizers before dinner at Sullivan's Steakhouse. Sullivan's was damn good! After that, we had more drinks at Cuba Libre, then Speakeasy. At Speakeasy, I thought that I would be Mr. Smooth and get some of the cologne from the guy in the bathroom who hands a towel to people that can't do it themselves. Mariana thought that it was pretty gross though. She just doesn't know good bathroom cologne.
