When I arrived in Vienna it was already night, therefore my priorities lied within locating my hostel and catching a beer. I took the local tram toward the location of my accommodation and stepping off at my stop was a grand and beautiful cathedral, apparently my hostel was located right behind this. As I got to check in, I walked around to check out the place, it was apparent that this hostel was recently renovated, every corner of this hostel looked beautiful, the fung shui(sp?) was that out of a Ikea catalogue. In the middle of the common room was a bar, awesome, two birds with one stone. In fact as I checked in, I asked the customary question that follows check in, what do I need to know? There are always rules, tours and what not's. The receptionist replied, "The bar is around the corner."

After tossing my bag on my bunk, I head down to the bar for a refreshing beer after a day of travels - My beers were accompanied with a witty British guy serving as the bartender and a middle aged lady who was traveling the world for a year. We lost track of time and before we realized the time was 5am Vienna

. Unfortunately those late night bish-boshes don't give me too much motivation in the mornings and slept in until 10 - daylight is crucial while traveling. After my morning breakfast of toast, jam and tea I was out to enjoy the beautiful 60 degree weather.

I fist walked to the Palace that was a distance north. I didn't feel like paying to see a couple of grand rooms, I have seen a palace before, so I walked around the outskirts of the building to find an entrance to some fantastic palace gardens. The gardens in itself took about 2 hours to stroll through, a perfect day for a stroll indeed. Atop of a hill behind the gardens reveals to a stunning view of Northern Vienna. I didn't feel like backtracking all of my steps to get to a tram to downtown Vienna so I headed toward some big buildings on a nearby street to which I thought was downtown. About an hour later I found myself asking some natives how to get to downtown - I was off the map.

When I got into downtown Vienna, right in front of me as I exited the tram was the beautiful Opera house, Arcadia! Those who weren't aware, Vienna is known for their opera, and musical integrity - Composers such as Mozart lived and played here. I found it rather hard however to snag a photo of the opera house (and most buildings) because the structures are situated so close together. Proceeding from here, the heart of downtown - the 'old town' was just stunning, everything was picturesque and immaculate. I could literally do a 360 at any given point snapping photos, and each photo still looking just as beautiful as the last Vienna
Vienna
. Most of the general populous of the area were dressed very well, women in heels and dresses, men with argyle and vests - even the public bathrooms had assistants in them! The shops on the main streets are well above my spending power, shops such as Prada and what not's, I wont be needing any mink on this trek. Situated in the center of old town is a very large beautiful church. The interior of this church was just shimmering with chandeliers, purple drapes and marble floors.

After a lot of walking through the old town, I ventured off in several directions outside of old town to check out the rest of the city, I used old town as my base to which I can get to and from where I needed to be. After hours of wandering, I headed to some place somewhere in the city and found a phone booth to catch up with the fam back home, I ended up talking for 2 ½ hours total, which equivlates to 26 Euro, yikes. After that began my adventures back to the hostel where I bought a pint and downloaded the latest episode of lost - what?! I need my fix. The following day I did some more church seeing and city wandering, I hit all the main parts the previous days then caught a train to Bratislava, Slovakia - only an hour away.
