Arrived about 5 pm, met at Chek Lap Kok International Airport by a guide (Lam). Transferred to dinner (simple 8 item dinner) at Wah Seng Restaurant. After that, transferred to BP International Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui. Checked in and dumped baggage, then went out with the rest of the group to jalan-jalan. It was a refreshingly cool night - was glad for my windbreaker, both as a protection from the temperature and as an extra deterrent to pickpockets.

Proceeded along Austin Street, then turned into shopping malls and miscellaneous shops. The prices are not cheap!! even with sales on. Most of the shops I browsed seemed to sell clothes and shoes. Sadly, there was nothing to my taste and budget. Ended up along Temple Street (Miu Kai) which had a more "pasar malam" atmosphere, with pyjamas and T-shirts. Finally went back without buying anything anyway. However, we picked up some advice from various people (including stall owners along Miu Kai) regarding safety in Shenzhen (our next stop). It seems Shenzhen is still pretty unsafe, and we were warned to take care with luggage and personal belongings, even when shopping.

After we went back to the hotel for baths and rest, the group leader made a decision to leave most of our baggage in the hotel (which would be our final stop before leaving HK) in order to have less things to care for during the following days. As a result, we started repacking our stuff in order to bring less (and smaller pieces of) luggage to China. My mini-group (2 aunties and me) ended up leaving our 2 suitcases in the hotel, and ended up with 1 big and medium backpack as well as a carry bag to serve us for the next 4 days. Guess we didn't need as much as we thought! I didn't manage to leave a lot, as I only had my backpack anyway. But I still started out from HK with a half-full backpack, leaving half for souvenirs & purchases. Slept at 12 midnight after watching TVB / some chinese channel.
