Bangkok...the city that never slows down! You can stay in Bangkok for years and not see everything that it has to offer.

It's break time....time to renew the passports and remember what normal life is like again! We pick up the passport applications...Jay's expires soon and I'm out of pages...and they tell us, you need your birth certificate to get a new passport! What?? I don't even have a birth certificate! I already have a passport, but now I cannot get a new one without my birth certificate?? Isn't it obvious that I'm a Canadian...since I've had a passport for the last 15 years??!! There's no way I can get my birth certificate unless I apply in person at a Registry in Alberta...DOH! So now our travels are limited to 3 more countries that require visas! We drop off Jay's for renewal and now we wait...15 days.

La Dee's a beautiful day...let's go for a walk and for lunch. RUN!...DUCK!...TAKE COVER!!...What the heck??....Oh's Songkran Festival!!! We completely forgot...didn't waterproof anything that we had with us...and now we are soaked! Truckloads of people, young and old, with waterguns and pails of water are driving by and dousing us with water! The first shot, got me right in the face...not sure what happened, I looked around and figured it out. I just got soaked with water that is being scooped out of a big green industrial size GARBAGE CAN!!! GROSS!! But there's no way to avoid it...and the fun, happy, enjoyable atmosphere is incredibly contagious! Only one thing to do...join in the festivities! So, here we are....unarmed...looking for some waterguns to buy...drenched...and covered in clay that they smear on your face for Good Luck! Amazing! A whole city wide WATER FIGHT!! It continues right into the night...and lasts for THREE days! There was no escaping our hotel without getting wet....and yet....there wasn't a single grumpy, angry person! Our country can learn a lot from some of these societies!

One weekend, we braved the heat and headed out to Chatachuk Market....a market the size of a small city! It never ends...and it's all air con. It only took about 3 hours before we realized that we were slowly melting, bit by bit and should probably get out of the sun! We were trying to find some souvenirs, but came out empty handed...haha.

Everyday has been an adventure! You can't leave your hotel without seeing something new or someone interesting. There's a guy on the street corner...everytime he sees Jay he says, "You're a Lucky Man"...and leaves it at that...haha! It makes him so It's also interesting to see the mix of cultures here. Canada is multicultural, but so is Bangkok...only with different cultures. There are tons of people from the middle east here, wearing their cultural outfits....full burqas. I'm so curious of these cultures and find it fascinating to see them maintaining their beliefs. I have so many questions that I'd like to ask...but don't want to seem disrespectful.

I don't know how it happened, or what caused it....but I ended up in bed for a few days with food poisoning...AGAIN!! Jay and I share almost every I don't understand why I keep getting sick and he doesn't. The lesson to learn this time is to follow your intuition!! We were hesitant on eating at this one restaurant...the same franchise that we often eat at...just a different location. I wasn't sure why I was unsure of it, but we discussed it and were starving, so we sucked it up and ate there. Hours later...I was sick.

Now that I'm feeling better, and we finally got Jay's passport back, we are ready to move on!! We only have 4 months left and we want to enjoy every minute of it.  Another two days in Thailand, then our journey will consist of spur of the moment destinations...and you'll have to follow the blog to find out where we are next!! See ya Bangkok!!
