We arrived at the Bangkok train station early morning only to be told that there were no seats available to Surat Thani! We managed to find a travel agent just around the corner who secured 4 sleeper train tickets for us!…with a catch…two separate trains…lol. This is a perfect example of how awesome the "Paper, Scissor, Stone" game is….Jay and I won. We were taking the second train that was to leave at 7pm, arriving at 7:30am (turned out to be an hour late!). Rick and Andrea won a ride on the first train…5pm to 4am with two upper bunks….and a 3 hour wait outside on a bench with sketchy people and cockroach buddies! They were pretty happy when we finally arrived!

From the train station, it's a 2 hour bus ride to the pier and another 2 hours on a ferry to Koh Samui. It was quite difficult and took a lot of walking to finally find the dumpy B&B we had booked online…thankfully we hadn't paid yet, so we kept walking until we found Khun Chaweng Resort…brand new and super luxurious (compared to what we have recently been staying at…lol). It's only a block to the beach, and right off the main road.

I'm not sure why people rave about Koh Samui…I'm not a huge fan. It's nice, but the beaches in Phuket are much nicer. We enjoyed our time though, did some snorkelling, relaxed, and joked with the hawkers. At one point, we witnessed a few of the kids being taken away by the police. It was sad to watch…the adult that they were with denied being with them…the kids were so young, upset, and scared…no child should have to endure those situations.

We spent most of our time on the beach or in restaurants…eating is the best part of travelling! A trip to Thailand isn't complete without a visit to a ladyboy show! We went to Starz Cabaret, where Ricky Martin met Brittany Spears…I don't think Rick stopped smiling through the whole show. Such a good time!

With some intense research and the help of "google translate", I managed to find a Thai site for Ang Thong National Park….a couple bank transfers later and we had a cabin booked for 2 nights!…SO excited!
