Day 115 - Outlet shopping and Cirque du Soleil
Jun 14, 2013
. We jumped a bus back to the hotel to get ready to go to Mandalay bay on the strip for the Cirque du Soliel show Michael Jackson - One show, we were so excited about seeing. We gave ourselves an hour or so to get ready and be on the bus heading to the strip by 5pm as the show started at 7pm and we needed to pick up tickets and have dinner. We got ready, we both looked really good in our new clothes especially Bobbie who was wearing a new dress and shoes that made her look smashing. We got on the bus, that took about an hour to get to the end of the strip where Mandalay bay is. We found our way into the massive casino/hotel and I found the box office, where I picked up the will call tickets I purchased, by 6pm. It took 15 minutes in the line then we quickly looked for a spot for dinner, we found an Irish pub amongst the many shops and restaurants, we had a couple of quick beers with dinner and before we knew it, it was 7pm and we rushed down to the show where just just made it as it was starting. The next 2 hours was absolutely incredible, we paid a lot of money for the tickets and it was worth every dollar. There was amazing acrobatics, people flying above our heads, people moonwalking up the walls, the most amazing dancing and light show all set to Michael Jackson music. Towards the end they even had a hologram Michael on stage dancing. We both loved it and at times it almost got a bit emotional as we are both huge MJ fans and are still very sad he died. There was a bit of a story going through the show that was kind of cool and easy to follow. It was a spectacular production and we both came out so amazed and overwhelmed we needed a few more drinks to settle us down. Before going to the bars we went to the gift shop which had all Michael Jackson merchandise, I got the best jacket we've both ever seen and we got a few gifts and earphones as well. We had a few more beers at a bar which also had a club called minus5 which is a frozen bar in a freezer where you have to wear a jacket and rug up because it's freezing
. At the bar we sat on a table and watched varies sports on the TVs, we were so stoked about what we had just seen the only thing better would have been seeing Michael himself, I was also pumped on my jacket purchase. Once we had a few drinks we made our way to the bus to head back to the hotel. The bus took ages again which sucked because we both needed to use the toilet. Once back to Fremont street we quickly got back to the hotel and used the bathroom then decided to play a bit on the pokies. We had a couple of cheap drinks and Bobbie played the Cleopatra machine while I watched and occasionally pushed the buttons. I think we ended up breaking even after an hour or so of playing the games. I had a go on a ghostbusters machine that was like a video game with vibrating seat and surround sound, it ate my money fairly quickly though. After that we went to the room and hit the sack as it was getting pretty late.
This morning we got up an going at a reasonable time, we got breakfast downstairs, the plaza hotel has lots of restaurants and food joints on the bottom level. After breakfast we decided to go shopping, we jumped on the bus that we caught yesterday, it runs between the strip and downtown and we thought if we get on where we got off yesterday at Fremont street it would eventually turn around and go back to the strip where we wanted to go. We paid for tickets and jumped on, the bus went three stops in the opposite direction to the strip and stopped where everyone got off, luckily the last stop was right out the front of the outlet shops not far from our hotel. We went in and spent a few hours shopping. We split up for a while so we could do our own thing, stuff was really cheap, I found a shop called hot topic which was all my style stuff, I got a little crazy and purchased about 5 garments 4 of which were shirts that cost $10 each. Bobbie got some great stuff as well and we both walked out hours later with many bags in hand stoked on our new clothes
