unfortunately we were made to get up at 5 am AGAIN today, though it didn't really matter to me i was too excited to sleep properly!!! it took us an hour and a half to get the the "ghost town" Fatehpur sikri, and when we got there it was a gigantic red castle which was cool but we were kinda too tired to appreciate it fully! especially as we had seen a bigger red fort that didnt have to be abandoned the day before! we saw the grave of a heroin addicted elephant which apparently killed 49 civilians on behalf of its owner, the emporer, by stepping on them :( naughty mister elephant. his grave didnt make much sense either because there were supposed to be 49 spikes to represent the lives of those it had killed, but there was clearly atleast 10 times that many spikes and i think at the time architects couldnt count and neither could the emp. (i dont think he would mind me calling him emp. he is dead.)
then we had breakfast on a rooftop with a HUGE view of what was once a HUGE lake, and there was lots red kites (massive hawk-like birds) around!!!
then we went on a bird sanctuary tour where we saw deers and antelopes and ibis and herons and tortoises and storks!!!
when we finally got to our new hotel we found out that it was really a massive and beautiful place in a rough area, a diamond in the rough! not the hay stack we were teased about by our dry humoured guide. :@
we soon found out that all of the kids (of the neighbourhood) were playing holi games like throwing paint all over each other so we took to it like fish to water!! we got covered in paint and it hasnt come off yet!!!! then there was a holi parade which jaya woke me up to see! (:@) but it was really good!!
later that night there was a musical performance with a tiny bloke dancing with everyone so like the man i am... i ran away and hid.
