Ate as much as we possible could, and more, from the many world cuisines available for breakfast (including sushi) and decided to spend the day taking advantage of our accommodation, spending the day by the rooftop pool swimming and reading. As night closed in we took the boat across the Chao Phraya river and well away from the tourists, we found a street-side stall and sat enjoying the street food and Beer Chang.

The massive rainstorm was a refreshing change from the stifling heat and it all felt quite exciting! Very full and a wee bit tipsy, we went back to the hotel, smartened ourselves up a bit and head up to the hotel's “threesixty” bar. It's on the very top floor of the Hilton, a round bar with glass walls and panoramic views over the colourfully lit Bangkok landscape. (Apologies for the guide-book
style of writing, we've been reading a lot of the lonely planet and god dammit it just seems appropriate). Although the bar had ridiculously over-priced drinks, we indulged in the “free” nibbles accompanied by the jazz lounge singer who Alice says reminds her of Lost in Translation.
