Went into town to do a tour of backpackers&visit the i-site to find out info on Stewart Island.Decided to go tomorrow for a few days.
Had lunch at the Zoo cafe and then bought tickets for the movie "The World's Fastest Indian" this evening. A charming movie about a man from Invercargill who broke the under 1000cc motorbike landspeed record. Really nice to be watching a film about an Invercargill hero in the same town. The current mayor actually appears in the movie too!
Up early and started packing/sorting out stuff to take to Stewart Island. Lazy morning then drove to Bluff to buy ferry ticket ($47 one way) and wait around for departure.

Stewart Island accommodation is all full except for a single room at the hotel. Luca and I shared the single for $15 each (I slept on the camp bed - the room was so small that to open the door the bed needed to be folded up again).
Went over to hostel to use the kitchen, lentils on the menu (again) while the kitchen was overrun with school kids. Spoke to David (maths teacher from Massey High School in Auckland) who was accompanying a couple of dozen year tens. He
