We have been in Darwin for a few days now. Life in the Top End of NT is nice and relaxed. The temperature is just right during the day and still warm enough to be wearing just shorts and a t-shirt well into the evening. It's still the dry season so there is no rain here yet. What more could one want?

Yesterday we all headed to the Thursday Mindil markets, which are held right on the beach just a short walk from our hostel. Most of the merchandise was from Bali or Thailand, and marked up four or five times, but it didn't seem to deter the shoppers (including myself). Even if you were not there to shop or eat (there was a plethora of international food stalls) the quality of professional buskers did not disappoint.

In the short time that I have been here Darwin has grown on me. The city centre is compact and lacking a skyline, which is fair enough due to the cyclone threat, but it still has just enough charm to keep me exploring the streets and esplanade. Just as I am starting to feel like I could spend a while here I know that it's only three days before I have to repack my bags and get on a flight to Brisbane. The nice warm weather here is lulling me into shedding some warm clothes from my backpack. I hope that I am not in for a nasty temperature shock on the East Coast!

When I leave Darwin I will have to say goodbye to some of my long term travelling friends that I have known since Perth. And of course this will be the end of the Tasmanian Trio that was Jorgen, Dominik and myself. I'm sure that I'll see many of these great people again though, either further along my travels or when I get back to Europe. The more I travel the smaller the world seems to get!
