The Land of the Long White Cloud

Hey I'm in New Zealand!
I arrived this morning after a very comfortable ten-hour flight, with three seats to myself. The in-flight movies were a little poor so I instead had fun trying to get my high scores on the various Nintendo leader boards. They record your name, flight number and seat so you can try and out perform other passengers on your flight.
As we approached the terminal the captain announced that the temperature in Auckland was fourteen degrees - my heart sank. Having lived in the tropics for the last four months I had become quite accustomed to nice hot temperatures in the thirties. So out came the fleece and I have been wearing it all day. It has just started raining too so weather wise things could be better.
From the airport I took the Air Bus ($13 one way or $11 if you have a YHA or VIP card) to the downtown area and asked to be dropped off at Albert Park Backpackers Hostel. A bed in a large dorm set me back $20, and that was including the $1 discount after buying a 12 month VIP card for $39. The place is clean and well maintained, so I shall probably stay here a couple of nights at least.
Auckland seems like a home away from home. Everything looks quite familiar, the same shops and city centre architecture line familiar sounding street names. The coins even have the Queen on the back.
Being back in a country with a temperate climate it is the little things that you notice most of all, such as having two taps in the sink. It's just a small difference but enough to make me hesitate and remind myself where I was today.
