Raining in Tanah Rata

I left Kuala Lumpur this morning on the 10:30am bus to the Cameron Highlands. Having taken this journey before I now knew which of the two Shell garages I was supposed to be waiting at (it's the second one along from Puduraya by the way).
When buying the bus ticket for Cameron Highlands (or any other destination for that matter) it is always advisable to go direct to the operator kiosk listing that destination, counter 39 in this case. Most of the other companies will offer to sell you a ticket too but that just means they will phone up counter 39, reserve the ticket and charge you a commission on top of the ticket price. Fortunately there is an information desk just inside the entrance to Puduraya station on the right, and they can tell you straight away which counter to go to for your particular destination.
The journey was much better today, partly due to a relatively sane driver who didn't take every corner like it was going to be his last, and partly due to me being very tired and sleeping most of the way there. The driver did however keep trying to have conversations with passengers behind him, often turning his head back for a few seconds at a time whilst taking a blind bend. At the half way rest break it was nice to bump into Mel and Mel again from the diving in Perhentian Kecil. That seems to happen a lot whilst travelling, bumping into the same people in different locations time and time again.
Being back at Daniel's Lodge feels quite homey. Harry (who runs the place) had been keeping up with my adventures online while I had been off on my travels, and knew in advance that I was coming back to Tanah Rata today. Unfortunately it has been raining on and off since I have arrived here and it's looking pretty miserable outside. Definitely not my kind of hiking weather so I may have to console myself this evening with a VCD screening from the extensive collection at reception.
