Malaysians are mad about football, and three English clubs are cashing in this weekend with a playoff in the capitol. Birmingham, Chelsea, Newcastle and the Malaysian national team are playing four matches over the next few days culminating in a final on Sunday. I thought the tickets would all have been sold out in advance but a couple of guys at the hostel were able to buy them today for about RM50 so I shall trundle off to the ticket booth at Lot10 shopping mall and try my luck tomorrow. It would be nice to see the Malaysian team play an English team in the final but the pundits don't hold much hope for them.

In other news, I have pushed back my flight to Auckland by a month so that I can make the overland trip up north to see a bit of Thailand before leaving Southeast Asia. It would be silly not to really seeing as Thailand is almost mandatory on the backpacker route round the world. I can't recommend Malaysian Airlines enough for their flexibility with my ticket.
