Finally got myself to an internet cafe after two weeks of touring Peninsular's coasts. The last internet cafe I visited was back in Melaka and during my write up the place had a power cut. Actually the whole shopping mall suffered a blackout and we were all left in complete darkness as there was no backup or emergency lighting. Fortunately I had a little key chain LED with me (thanks Richard) and was able to find my way out of the Mall. But not before the cheeky chap running the internet cafe made sure everyone paid up.
During the last week I have been doing an open water diving course off one of the Perhentian Islands (Kecil) off the north east coast of Malaysia. So now I am a fully qualified PADI scuba diver and able to dive anywhere in the world. I got 98% in the final exam but was a little gutted as if I got all the questions right I would have got a free Turtle Bay Divers t-shirt. The waters around the Perhentian are crystal clear so even when I went snorkeling I could still see loads of marine life.
Going back to KL tonight on a night bus so I'll be back in relative civilisation again soon: hot showers, air conditioning, OSIM automated massage chairs etc. The bus is not due for a few hours so I'm having to hang around this one-horse town for a while. It's so uninteresting in Jerteh it doesn't even get a mention in the Lonely Planet.
