Last night was the first heavy downpour since arriving in Malaysia. Unfortunately I had left some clothes out to dry on the roof of my hotel and by morning they were predictably wet again. Never mind, usually it only takes a couple of hours for clothes to dry here.

Today was spent relaxing at the famous Ferringhi beach next to the Golden Sands resort. It was so nice sit on the sand until the heat of the day started to raise your temperature, and then cool off by swimming in the sea. It was very buoyant and I could have fallen asleep just floating on the water. I would have liked to swim out further but the water skiing, banana boats and jet skis zooming around was enough of a deterrent. The resort itself was full of tourists, I saw more here in one afternoon than all week in the whole of Georgetown.

Tomorrow is a holiday in Malaysia because it's the King's birthday. "Again?" I hear you say - well with so many Sultans in Malaysia each state seems to be a celebrating a King's birthday on different dates. Most shops and businesses will be closed in Georgetown so I asked one of the brothers who works at the Rainforest Cafe what people will be doing tomorrow. "Not much, just relaxing and maybe a game of football in afternoon." So tomorrow I have agreed to play a friendly game with some locals at the park up the road. It should be interesting to see how long I can run around in this heat and humidity. I'm glad I didn't throw away my trainers after the Gunung Brinchang trek now.

One last thing - for those of you who know Jan and Natasha, they are expecting in December! Congratulations to you both!
