I had a long flight back from BsAs, and as usual, the time change really killed me, especially going East to West. I was waking up at 3AM, all ready to go, and trying to go back to sleep. Oh well.
So, I had a long list of things to do, and new electronic toys to buy for my next journey. I gave my Acer notebook to Jake (was very glad to be rid of it- seems like it weighed a ton) and replaced it with my new Asus netbook that I bought on the internet.
I am very critical now on the weight of ANYTHING, but I selected the model that weighed 4 oz. more to get the bigger 6-cell battery (for those long bus rides). Also, I bought an IPOD, classic, that has 180 Gigs for storage of movies on the bus so I don't have to expose the netbook. And at the last minute, bought a GPS to help navigation on the African continent. And, also, an external hard drive for all my movies. I think I have enough entertainment.
So, I was busy, busy loading all my new Gigs with movies, MP3s. It's really nice to have English speaking movies to watch in the hostel (whatever), when there are absolutely no English speaking people around. And no WiFi in sight.
Also top on the list was to change my wardrobe to be more "backpacker" friendly. I needed a lightweight windbreaker instead of my leather jacket, and some lightweight trousers. You know, those with the zippers that give you shorts. Also, new shoes; since I calculated that I had put about 1500 miles on my old ones during my S.A. jaunt.
I did, however, find time to walk my grandson, Daniel, to and from school. This walk should take about 20 minutes tops, but with him, it's an hour and 20 minutes. But we have alot of discoveries to make and I am glad to have the opportunity to spend time with him, as who knows when I'll see him again? I am planning on a long trip this time out, so need to get ready for ? knows how long.
So, after a hectic 2 weeks in the U.S., my daughter made the trek back to the airport delivering me, and off, off, and away to check out Europe and environs.
