I arived in SM de los Andes late in the afternoon.  Headed for Hostel de Puna, which I seen in my guide.  It is a HI hostel, so got a small discount.  I met Monique the first day there, and the next day, we took a tour in a boat to the park.  We ambled around, and found some empanadas to eat, then found the waterfall.  While we were scouting it out, some friends of hers ran across us, so we just sat around shooting the bull for abit, then boarded the boat to return to the mainland.  I donīt recommend this tour: 40 pesos for the boat, 30 for the park.  And really nothing here, but the puny falls.

But the town itself is all that LP advertises: a beautiful Swiss-like village that hosts summer tourists for the lake activities, and the winter tourists for the skiing and other winter activities.  Since it is fall, I was able to get a decent discount at the hostel.  But, as it turns out, not as good as in Bariloche!

Monique had to leave for the north, and I met up with Fred, Wendy, and Ruth.  Fred had located a cheaper hostel down the road, so we all moved en masse.  The next day, we rented a car together, and drove the lakes...well, Ruth drove.  She turned out to be a very good friend, from Switzerland.

And I have been here since, catching my blog up to date.  Tomorrow I leave for Bariloche, and south!
