At last!  I finally arrived at the clubhouse, late in the afternoon.  Since it was a holiday (New Year's Day),  I was afraid that nobody would be at the clubhouse to let me in, but after ringing the bell, I was let in.

The SAE clubhouse in Lima (actually, Miraflores)  is beautiful and the price is right!  And my room was beautiful also.  But the best thing is, after a few nights on a REAL bed, my sciatica problem was gone!  I had suffered with that for months, and really never could figure out if it was caused by the long walks I took or the bad beds, or both, or a burst disk!  (I was ready for back surgery!)  Well, anyway, it was gone, and I was happy.

After months of being in places with no hot water, no toilet seat, etc. the clubhouse was like heaven.  Even better, there were real English-speaking people!  From the U.S. even!  And real internet, and a washing machine for my clothes!  I felt like I had reentered the world, for somewhere out in space, although Colombia (Medellina and Cali are both very "civilized"!)

Right off the bat, I became acquainted with a lady named Linda, from Vancouver, Can and Demitrie from, well, I am not sure,  somewhere in the U.S.  We met in the community kitchen where I was hanging out, drinking my coffee.  Linda quickly showed me around Miraflores, and we had a great time.  Demitiri was very entertaing, as well, but spent a great time in his room, holed up, writing his memoir, or whatever.

Shortly after I arrived, I met a gal named Debbie, from England, who had come to the SAE clubhouse to buy a membership.  She was staying down the road at a hostel, and she and I joined up for Spanish lessons at her hostel.  Well, it wasn't long, and everybody was taking Spanish lessons, so there was a queue at the hostel for the teacher.

After some days passed, I became really good friends with Debbie, and I decided to join her and our other buddy, Rick, in cusco, for the ride over to Puno.  I had seen an ad on TV about Puno, and the Calendaria there, the 1st week in Feb, and I decided I had to go.  So, I forfeitted my 2 weeks payment to Lima SAE clubhouse, and left early.

Well, more on that later.

EPIPHANY 5:  I am going to take a world trek!

Debbie and I went to el centro for the city's birthday party, and while we were out strolling around, a fellow came up and snagged Debbie's gold pierced earrings right out of her ears!  It just happened so fast, it was unbelievable.  We don't even know what the guy looked like!  Fortunately, he was an experienced thief, and didn't just rip the earrings out, since they were the kind that had a fold-like clip.  So, she lost the earrings, but kept the earlobes!

That taught me a lesson.  These thieves are just too quick for any type of reaction.  Best not to have anything on your person that they want!

More on the 5th EPIPHANY!  Debbie and I, over a bottle of wine, outlined my tour in Europe, Scandanavia countries, and AFRICA!  Debbie is very experienced in travel on that side of the globe, so she could give me all the scoop!

Well, onward and upward!

So, I forfeitted my 2 weeks rent for the first of Feb, and took a bus to Cusco, where I met Debbie and Rick.  Since I had been there, I wasn't interested much in sights, although we had a merry time drinking with Debbie's and Rick's friends.
