We arrived safely in Cotonou, with no major problems on the rode. When we were driving over the mountains for the last time, Jason turns to me and says "we did it". And we reflected back to the time when we first began to talk about joining Peace Corps and all the hard times and good times we've been through since we've been here. And how much it's affected our lives and how no two years in the US could not have taught us this much about the world and ourselves.

We picked up our friend Michelle on the way down and loaded up her things. Then we arrived in Cotonou that evening. Michelle and us all shared stories of our saying goodbye. Michelle's village thought so much of her to make her a Princess when the King of the village adopted her. I asked her what her parents thought about this, and she said she hasn't told them yet. But now she's a Princess in Africa. Pretty neat!

For the past few days we've just been getting paperwork done and final medical tests done to make sure we leave as healthy as we came. We're also saying goodbye to other PCVs and staff and doing some last minute souvenir shopping. We're very excited about returning to the US and spending the holidays with families.

We leave tonight on a red eye to Paris, and then to Houston and to Dallas. We are lucky enough to have gotten on the same flight with our friends "Princess" Michelle and Patty all the way until Houston. So we're all looking forward to the flight and the movies and the drinks and the food. It's a party! And it'll be a great way to end our Peace Corps service with those we met at the beginning of our two years and been through all of it with and gotten to know each other and become good friends. People we would never have met if Peace Corps had not brought us together.
