Hey everyone! We hope everyone's enjoying the spring weather over there. The rains are beginning and everything's looking greener everyday. It gives everything a much different feel that when we first got here.
At In service training, Rebecca learned more in depth information about doing baby weighings. Jason learned about doing environmental education programs. There were sessions together where second year volunteers talked about projects they have done. These projects include a fruit drying project (ideal for our area since the mangoes are so plantiful for a few months, and then there are none, drying would allow them to be eaten year-round), making tofu, and building inexpensive latrines. All volunteers brought a work partner, and ours were really motivated to start projects after this. So overall it was a successful time, and it was good to see other volunteers, since many we had not seen since initial training in December.
There's not much else to say right now. We're anxious to get back to Materi. In June, Jan and Eric (Jasons mom and brother) will be meeting us in France for our first vacation. We're very excited about this, and plan to test out every single backery and pastry shop we can search out. :) If you have any small things you would like to send to us, you can send them to Jan or Eric to bring with them. Please keep in mind that they have a weight restriction on the flight, so please don't send any large or heavy items. (And don't take this as an obligation to send so,ething either!!) Ok, we'll write again perhaps after our trip.
Please continue with all the emailing, we love to hear from all of you!!!
Love,
Rebecca and Jason
