Sorry we havenīt been able to get on the internet in the past few days to catch up on the blog... here is the quick version of the rest of France...
In Paris, we went all over town. I think there wasnīt a corner left unseen. And of course, Caryn got her shopping in as well. The highlight of the day though was going up the Eiffel tower. With a birdīs eye view of the city you can see practically everything. Definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait to get up there!
The next day we went to Versailles, an incredible palace complex just outside of Paris. Definitely worth a visit. When we finally got back into Paris that night we grabbed a quick dinner and rushed over to the National Opera House. We saw Iphigenie en Tauride. As if it werenīt confusing enough in French, its based on a Greek Mythology story. Needless to say we were 2 fairly lost Americans. All I really remember is that there was a naked man running across the stage... and it was part of the show!
Next we went to Nice, France on the French Riviera. There isnīt a lot to do there, just rocky beaches and some limited shopping. We also visited Monaco and spent some much needed time on the beach. Nice is ok, but our night in Cannes was much better. Cannesī old town in great with narrow side streets and excellent restaurants. I would suggest it to anyone! (also the beaches are very nice here)
Next on to Barcelona and the nightmare of the trains!
