we took a tour yesterday to visit the famous sights of the area...namely the boh tea plantation..with fantastic views of the tea plants on the hillside..and we even got to see some of the locals picking the tea leaves..8 to 9 hrs work for 6 pound a day..
we also saw the rose garden which had great views plus some strange flowers we hadnt seen before..then the strawberry farm..we were hoping for big things from there but they are all grown hydroponically so no strawberry fields forever
we visited a butterfly garden with hundreds fo varieties...plus they had a few other locals in there..namely..snakes..beetles ..crickets and far too many scorpions for my liking..he was trying to get me hold a scorpion..but i told him in plain anglo-saxon that i didnt want to!!!
but i did manage to hold a turtle...and kate stroked a leaf insect..what heros we are!!
when we got back..chores needed to be done..we put our laundry in to be cleaned..and yes they were chinese who owned it! then a few postcards to the post office and getting our bus tickets for the next port of call which is penang tomorrow..so finally after being in 4 destinations already and nearly 2 weeks on the road..we will get to see the beach/sea tomorrow...im sure your hearts bleed for us!
its been nice to get out of the big cities with the smoke/noise/traffic/people..and into smaller, one road towns...
