Day 12: We arrived in Singapore at 1:15am, so the first thing we were interested in doing was hitting the pillow. Once we rousted ourselves from a much needed sleep in a very plush hotel room (thank you Intel discount), we met up with Ken Marsh, Jason's roommate in Kanazawa. For those of you at our wedding, you'll remember him as the guy with the tape recorder and camera. Ken is currently living in Singapore, so it was a great chance to get to see him.
He showed us around for the day. The first stop was the famous Singapore Merlion. We took the obligatory picture. Next we tried to take a two and a half hour boat trip to take in the Singapore skyline and surrounding islands. After waiting for about 45 minutes with no boat coming to pick us up, we finally bailed
We decided we should just hang out. Ken took us to a place called Little Thailand (at least that's what the cab driver called it). This little taste of Thailand was good because we were debating between Thailand and Australia for our trip destinations. We had some great Thai food and heard Ken's karaoke skills at a Thai bar. He's really good! We then walked along a river walk to check out the bars and restaurants there. You can find any kind of food, even Tex Mex! We shot some pool, had some beers (the Guiness is excellent), and took a river taxi to take in some of Singapore.
Day 13: Finally, a day to relax! This day consisted of nothing more than lunch with Ken before he headed out to Hong Kong for business, lounging by the pool, typing this email, and grabbing some dinner. We also had a drink on the 70th floor of our hotel. What a view! Nice! The batteries are recharged, and we're ready to head to Australia tomorrow!
