If there were any brewpub on the whole trip that was a must-stop, it was this one. All of their beers get very high ratings on, and we simply had to try some of them. Being an Oregon beer snob, I was skeptical that the high ratings earned by this brewery in Indiana weren't just a local bias.

This was literally the first planned stop on our sabbatical, and it was quite convenient to get to. It was literally exit 1 off of I-80 on the Indiana side of the Illinois border and only 3 miles off of the highway. The brewpub is tucked away in the middle of an industrial park. It's a fairly small place, but it was very busy for 4pm. It is a popular place with the locals. Unfortunately, the timing didn't reallly work out to stay and have a meal and a pint. It was too late for lunch and too early for dinner. It also wasn't a good place for keeping two five year-olds entertained while Dad had a beer, and we kind of just wanted to get to Michigan City. So, we got several bombers and a six-pack to-go. Some of these served as tailgating beers for the Notre Dame game. They had quite a bit more alcohol in them than you would normally find at a tailgate!

I have to say, the beers we got were outstanding. I had a Baltic porter called Topless Wytch, an imperial IPA called Arctic Panzer Wolf, another imperial IPA called Rye'd da Tiger, a saison called Zes Zes Zes, and a pale ale called Alpha King. The high ratings on are well deserved. If you ever find yourself driving on I-80 east of Chicago, I'd highly recommend a stop at Three Floyd's.
