Laguna de Apoyo is a gorgeous lake set in the crater of a volcano. This is an easy day trip from Granada. We jumped on a bus that heads to Managua and asked the bus driver to let us off at the appropriate cross road. There were taxis at the intersection waiting for people getting off the bus. We grabbed a taxi which cost 80 Cordoba one way. We arranged a pick up time with the driver so we wouldn´t be stranded.

There are a bunch of restaurant/bars along part of the beach in case you get hungry. The water great! Very clear and clean. The black volcanic sand beach was amazing. You could walk out about 10 meters or so into the water and still be only shoulder deep then it would just drop! Lots of fun swimming.

On our way back in our taxi, our driver spotted a large family of howler monkeys! He stopped and we took some pictures! First up close monkey spotting!!! Yeah!

It started to rain pretty hard so our driver let us sit in the taxi until the bus coming from Managua going to Granada came by and we flagged it down to get a ride back! Great day trip.
