When we asked about Pompei at the Naples train station, the lady said that specifically the day we would be visiting the city was the day chosen for a staff meeting so the city wouldnt open until about 11am. We didnt want to believe her, since we searched on the internet about this meeting and we didnt find anything, so we ended up getting the train earlier and arriving at the entrance of Pompei by 10.30am, just in case it was open. Well, it wasnt! So we had to wait for it to open at 11.30am, 3 hours later than usual. We found out that it wasnt a meeting, but a strike. We were there waiting and the crowd started filling up, so the both of us decided to stay closer to the gate, which we did, and after half hour waiting, the gates opened and the front people (including us) tried to be civilized and walk to the ticket counter, but some morons started running around us, so I also ran. I bought the very first two tickets of that day to visit Pompei! So we run to the ruins and were able to take some pictures without anyone in them!!!!!
But that didnt last long, so soon the place was filled up

Pompei
. It took us about 3 hours to visit most of the ruins, which is very impressive, the fact that all that was under lava. There is still a spot totally covered which is not opened for public. Honestly, lava looks very similar to concrete! At least, lava after thousands of years. The last we saw were the bodies of people and animals who got petrified with the lava. It is impressive how much you can see the expression of their faces while they were being burnt (at least we imagine). After we left the place we found out that there is a spot in the city which is like a cemetery, where all the bodies are on the floor, all curled up. It actually freaks you out.
