Monday, May 9th

We headed out from San Diego this morning for Temecula and some wine tastings. We went to Temecula a couple of years ago when we were in Orange County and had gone to South Coast Winery, so we decided to check out some different ones this time. We originally were going to do a Big Reds tour we found online that was four different wineries that are known for good red wines.  Plans changed when Jared found a website that we could print coupons off of to do 2 for 1 tastings.  Two of the four wineries we were planning on hitting up had coupons so we still went to them. The first one we went to was Wiens Family Cellars.  We were supposed to get 6 tastings for our price, but the woman working let us have all 7 reds and then added in a champagne for us to try. I think she threw in the champagne since it was cheaper than all of the reds and she was hoping we would buy it. We had decided before we went in to any of the wineries that we weren't purchasing any bottles since they cost so much. It is so hard for me to say no because I always feel guilty, but we held true to it all day.

After leaving Wiens we headed to Falkner, which was also on the Big Red tour and had a 2 for 1 tasting. We weren't supposed to be able to keep any of our glasses using the coupons, but Falkner is the only one that actually didn't give us our glasses after we were done. We did 4 tastings here and I would say they were just ok. We liked them, but the ones at Wiens were definitely better.

We decided after Falkner to look up more coupons and pick our next winery based off of our coupons. We ended up choosing Longshadow Ranch. We really liked this place. When we walked in Queen was blasting through the speakers and the bartender Mike was super cool. It was a really welcoming place to do some tastings and didn't feel all stuffy and quiet like most of the other ones do.  We had 5 tastings here and really enjoyed them. Jared's favorite was the Outlaw Red - Gunslinger's Reserve, which was tasty.  I enjoyed that one, but I liked the Estate Vineyard Syrah.  After we finished up our tastings we decided to each get a glass of the ones we liked and then walked around for a little bit before sitting with a couple (Michael and Jackie) that we met during the tasting.  I will put up pictures, but we both really loved the building from this one and the horses they had on their grounds.  This was definitely our favorite place for the day.

We decided to go to another winery with our new friends. We picked another one off the coupons and printed one for us and another one for Michael and Jackie. The one we ended up picking was Miramonte Winery.  This one also felt more welcoming and had an awesome newfoundland dog in it that was the owners.  The girl doing our tastings just moved in to the area from Vermont and we chatted with her for a while. We tried 5 wines here which were all pretty good.

After we finished up at Miramonte we decided to head to Michael and Jackie's place for Michael's birthday party. We were a little hesitant, but we figured why not go over for a while and then we can leave and find a place to spend the night. We had a good time hanging out for a while with them and their friends that came over for the party. They had a pretty big house with a huge backyard that had an in ground pool. Nash had a great time running around the backyard with their 3 dogs.

After a while we decided to head out for Lake Elsinore West Marina & RV Resort to spend the night. It was a nice place right on the lake.
