Thursday, April 7th

Today we had pancakes at the Chuck Wagon in our campground and then caught the bus to downtown San Antonio. After getting off the bus we first headed to the Alamo to check it out. It was pretty interesting. We caught a very informative movie about what all went down at the Alamo and then we toured the area. After leaving the Alamo we headed over to the Tower of the Americas.  It was built for a world's fair about 35 years ago. We took the elevator to the top and checked out the observation deck for a high up view of San Antonio. After the Tower of the Americas we headed to the Riverwalk.  The riverwalk is full of bars and restaurants all along the river. It was a really nice walk and we headed to Casa Rio for a late lunch. It was a Mexican food place and we both thought our meals were just ok. We liked parts of it but not all of it. It was pretty nice to sit right on the river though. Although there were a bunch of ducks around which all the signs said not to feed them. We obeyed the signs but did have some ducks hanging around trying to get us to feed them. One was pretty aggressive and poked me in the butt twice with his beak. I was really startled and jumped out of my chair. Jared was like what is going on over there, when I looked back the duck was just sitting there looking at me like what, give me some food. I still didn't feed him though, but I definitely paid more attention to the ducks around. Jared thought it was hilarious though.

After lunch we headed back to the Alamo Plaza because they were setting up for Fiesta. Fiesta is an 11 day event with over 100 events. Today was the opening event for Fiesta to kick it off. Apparently all different organizations sell different pins that people collect and trade with each other. People also dress up in some great outfits so we had some fun people watching. They were supposed to start at 5:30pm, but got delayed until a ceremony at 6:15pm and one at 8pm. We decided to head back to the Riverwalk to hang out at a bar for a little while and then come back to Fiesta around 8pm. We went to Madd Dogg and hung out at the bar for some beers. We then went back to the Fiesta party around 8pm. They had music playing and fireworks. We hung out for a little while and then headed out to catch the bus back home.
