Grayton Beach, FL to Monticello, FL

Where I stayed
Grayton Beach State Recreation Area
Once we got back to the camper we got cleaned up and headed out for Wakulla Springs State Park. According to our book many of the early Tarzan movies and The Creature from the Black Lagoon were filmed in this park. Also they have glass-bottom boats that ride across the spring. Unfortunately we forgot about the time change during our drive so we missed the last glass-bottom boat ride. We did go on a short 1 mile hike through some of the wooded areas of the park and we stopped in at the snack bar for a root-beer float. When we finished up at the park we headed to the Tallahassee East KOA in Monticello, FL.
Tomorrow we plan on driving to Davenport, FL to meet up with some of my family for the week.
This morning we got up nice and early so we could stop by the office to pay for our site last night and then to head out for some trails. We decided to go on the trails over by Grayton Beach instead of on the trails through the woods. From the map it looked like we would actually end up on the beach able to see the ocean towards the end of our hike, but that didn't end up being the case. There were actually great big dunes between us and the beach on the trail, but the trail was a sand trail so we were able to get Nash on sand that way and we had a great view of the lake. After we finished the trail we headed up the walk that leads to the beach to check it out. Pets weren't allowed so we couldn't go on the actual beach but we got a nice view. The ocean was roaring. They had a red flag flying for hazardous water and a blue flag hanging for dangerous marine animals, so it probably was a good thing we couldn't take Nash out on the beach. Jared really wants to see if he would be up for swimming in the ocean. I am sure we will get an opportunity somewhere.
