After a long and tiring day yesterday (after Bromo adventure, Madakaripura Falls, and several hours of driving, we decided to stay overnight in Batu (30km northwest of Malang, Java).

Batu is a 30 minute car ride from Malang. It is very near, and it is one of the favorite destination for people who wish to escape from Malang. It is not difficult to find hotel in Batu, but I would recommend Hotel Perdana. It is not really inviting from outside, but the room is clean, though very basic. The price is also good (only 250,000Rp).

Batu is also famous for its apples, and there are a lot of apple gardens you can visit. As I am not really a fan for garden visit, I skip this one.

Malang is famous for its Bakwan Malang. Bakwan Malang is like a meatball soup but different (there are more variations in its content that makes it delicious) - See picture. There is one Bakwan Malang stall that I would recommend you to try. It is near alun-alun of Batu city.

On the way from Batu (heading Solo), we stop by in Dewi Sri Market. The market actually no different with other market, but I think it is just nice to spend some time to shop here. There are various items sold here; mostly souvenirs and of course apples. See pictures.
