. Many memories were raised and snippets of news exchanged. And then at dinner this evening we were introduced to a journalist, Steve, who, guess what? was raised in Nottingham very close to where Steve (the childhood friend, not the journalist or the one from Mt Vernon) and Terry were living!
I spent most of the day with Anne and Anita - shopping our socks off - we 'did' Hudson Bay company in the city centre and then took the skytrain out to Metrotown where there is a fabulous large mall - more shopping and then the sky train back to town and the bus out to the gardens to hear Terry speak again. So, breakfast with everybody in the morning and then Steve (one of them anyway) will take us out to the airport.
Lovely Vancouver - the weather today has been very nice indeed - some sun and warm temperatures. Yesterday was not as good, the organsation at the show was somewhat lacking and Terry was obliged to give his talk without the benefit of any visual aids - no data show, no slide projector, no flowers, no plants. There was very little audience as there had been little publicity - we felt under-appreciated to say the least, although our friend Stephen from Mt Vernon, Washington took the trouble to drive up to hear the presentation (thanks Stephen!). Today was a vast improvement - a slide projector that worked and a little larger audience. We were taken out to dinner both nights and tonight's meal was at one of the best restaurants in Vancouver - and I could actually eat a decent meal tonight - after 13 days of upset tummy its finally starting to heal so I could fully enjoy the gourmet dining experience. Terry met his childhood friend resurfaced, Steve, today and spent a couple of hours walking Stanley Park with him
