3.26.07 im on the airplane right now, on the way to antalia, turkey. Im xcited to see what God is going to do. Its nice to get out Jerusalem. Its pretty heavy there. Spiritually heavy I guess. There is a battle going on that my eyes cannot see. But my spirit knows its exists, so that keeps me in prayer a lot. God wants that country for Himself, & so does the devil, so it's a war. Ive known spiritual warfare before coming here. How real it is. I think that's one of the big things that's Gods doing in my life, breaking my innocence of mind. I tend to choose that bad doesn't exist, that the world is all rainbows & butterflies (ha-ha, in a sense) but it isn't. there is a evil in the world that is greater than I know. & there is a good that daily fights against it. So greater is He that is in me, than he who is in the world. If I didn't know that God wanted me here, without any doubt, I think I might have left already. But God is giving me the faith to stay. I know its His will. I don't feel like ive changed very much since ive left. I know everyone expects me to come back like shining or something. If anything I feel like ive gotten worse. Ha-ha, well, not worse, but I know God is showing my sin more & more, so I feel worse, but its just the humbling process & im glad for it, Lord knows I need it! We are landing, ill write more later. 3.26.07 We made it! We were going to go to the antalya museum but we ran out of time, so instead we walked into the city & had some food, then went a& saw some remains of something. Ha-ha, I think it was the emperor Hadrian's fort. Yes, I think that's what it was. The walk was long, a few miles but it was good. My legs have never been so strong! After that we walked down to the harbor & watched the sunset & ate my first Turkish delights! It was wonderful! With all the boats & the people. I never thought an obscure country such as turkey, to be so so beautiful. It really was though. After that we went back to the hotel & had dinner. It was a buffet full of yummy food. Weird, unrecognizable food, but it was very tasty. By this time it was pretty late, so we just hung out in the hotel. They had a sauna & Turkish bath & cold pool. I love saunas. I think ill get a real Turkish bath before I leave, they look relaxing. Im going to sleep, long days ahead!
3.27.07 Wow! So this morning we drove to have our devos & came to this HUGE waterfall. Oh man, it was so pretty, I really do like it here a lot. If I had the option to come back, then I would. We climbed down the rock to the bottom of the fall & took some pictures. I was amazed by it, even in just a waterfall I found God, the creator of it. It was huge & powerful, its significance to everything around it was unknown. Just like God! It was loud & I could feel the mist coming from the water yards away! Oh man it was beautiful. We rented a car so we were able to drive to perge. Its mentioned barely in acts 13. I guess paul went through there & preached the gospel a bit, then he left. But it was still really awesome knowing that for a fact, Paul was there. I mean, I live where Jesus walked al the time, now that is awesome too. Its weird seeing ruins of places & trying to picture what it looked liked when people were living there. It works my imagination! After perge we went to the ruins of side (seeday). Its not mentioned in the bible but it was an ancient city on the coast, where they worshipped the greek gods & such. The temple of side was RIGHT on the water. I cant imagine how beautiful it all must have been. I mean, without all the false idols & such. We made a friend out here & she invited us to her house for tea. Wow! They put so much sugar in that stuff. She was so sweet, her name was du-du. She wouldn't let you have just one cup of tea, you had to keep drinking until the whole tea pot was empty, then of course, she would just make more. We were all bouncing off the walls after that. We tried to give her a bible, but she said her neighbors would take it away & she would get in trouble. That's sad, but at least we tried & the seed was planted. Its late & bedtime!
ps. if you want to see more pictures, from now on im putting them here... http://www.flickr.com/photos/jannelledawn/ thanks!
3.28.07 today we went to Antioch in pisidia. It was an intense 3 hour drive up there, but Antioch is up in the mountains so the drive was beautiful, & the weather was nice too, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Anyway, we got there eventually. Dang, I still cant get over being at these places. It was really neat just reading the bible at the part where it is mentioned & thinking that im sitting in the very exact same place! Its all God. After spending a few hours in Antioch, we went to Isparta where we had dinner in a sit down resturant. The food here is pretty awesome. Lots of meat though. I feel like everything is meat & bread. Ha-ha. We also got to talk to a few people about Jesus! The people here are so open & receptive, not like the people in Israel. They actually smile at me when I smile at them. When we got back to the hotel it was kinda late but a few of us went to the sauna. We met two girls from Israel there. They are from the states too & going to school in Jerusalem. They said that they have never met Christians who are like us. Christians that love & support Israel. We got their number & we are going to be friends! Its crazy how God works. Bringing us both to turkey at the same time, bringing us to the same city in turkey, the same hotel, & to the spa at night! Even if we went to turkey just to meet those two, its worth it. Im praying for how that goes. 3.29.07 today was a free day. It wasn't that long but it was cool just to walk around the city & see all the people & talk to them. Its funny, everything that they sell is like rip off designer clothes & bags. So there wasn't much to buy. I got a Turkish tea set though! I cant wait to have tea parties with it! & I got my sister something. After the shopping we had a a little outreach. Not many people came by but bryan got to talk to a police officer for awhile. Me & Ashley went to a little coffee shop across the street & we shared with the girl there. Even if we don't full on give the gospel or an invitation to accept Christ, I love just talking to them & getting to know a little bit about who they are. Tonight me & Ashley decided to get a Turkish bath! Oh man, I will remember that experience forever. I cant really share all the details considering this journal will be public. Ha-ha. It was pretty crazy, but now we are softer than a baby's bottom! Goodnight!
