2.17.07 Today I went rock climbing! In the valley of hinnom, which is where, Judas hanged himself, & I climbed those rocks. Weeeird. It was really hard though, the rocks were super cold & they numbed my fingers, so I fell a couple of times. & then it was church service. It was a guest speaker & usually the services are really long because they have to translate everything from Hebrew to English. So the pastor was like "if you didn't believe in miracles before you came tonight then now you do because service is over at 8." It usually goes to nine so it ended pretty early. After service, I guess café hillel is the hang out place on Saturday nights, so we went & met up with karoline. When karoline had to go home, I walked her to the bus stop & when we got there a man was j walking & got hit by a car. He was laying on the cement median just bleeding everywhere. The glass windshield was shattered. It was horrifying. The only thing I could do was pray. I stayed there until the ambulances came but right after karoline's bus came so she had to leave. The drivers are crazy here. So are the pedestrians too I guess. So it was a hard night. But the whole day in general, was super good. I loved it.
2.19.07 today we went to the holocaust museum. So it was an intense day to say the least. Austwich was a lot harder for me though. The museum was huge & it was brand new, but it seemed like all it was, was information. An overwhelming amount of information. I think austwich was harder because it was the ACTUAL place, not just a paragraph or two written about it. But all in all, it opened my eyes more to the atrocity that went on at that time. They had TV's up everywhere, with survivors telling parts of their story, & little display cases of pictures & clothes. But like I said, the most of it was just a lot of information. There was a part that was dedicated to the children, it was a big building & inside it had huge pictures of some of the children, then around the corner was the list of names, then around another corner it got pitch black & right after that all you saw was candles everywhere with the loud speaker naming the children who were murdered. Long day.
2.20.07 I got my first package! 2 pounds of sees candies. All my favorites. That's really all I want to write about! Thank you family!
