Well, we have finally made it to Canada. We left Livingston, Montana at 5.30 am (yes, you can believe that time really). We were woken by a very loud train whilstle going off across the road at 5.00 am, so thought what the hell, we may as well hit the road, as there was 8 hours driving ahead of us if we were to do the trip in a day.

So, left in daylight, but lightly snowing conditions. Snow had not settled overnight - had finished snowing about half an hour after we got into our grotty little motel. However, as we left Livingston it started again, and it was beginning to thicken up as we went through an early gorge on our way to Bozeman. Travelled on through Helena, then to Great Falls, and onwards to the end of the state. The weather was poor much of the way, but as we were on the drag strip for plenty of it, didn't really matter. You certainly clock up the miles going at 75 mph.

Got through the US/Canada border without inciden - the first time we have driven to a crossing point like that. Then we made our way to the nearest information point, about half an hour drive into Canada. Got some excellent advice from the young ladies there - one of whom had been in the South Island, yes even to Invercargill, only a month ago, on her way to Stewart Island. She found it cool whilst there - that is nothing to what we are finding it here. Gee it's chilly. Not at all what we were expecting, and certainly don't have enough warm clothes with us, that's for sure.

From there we travelled until Calgary, with only a quick toilet stop at a lovely ice cream shop. Had pre-searched the internet for accommodation, and although we didn't take up the option we had found (another skuzzy place), three doors down, and on the advice of the young ladies from the information centre, are at the Ramada Inn, at an excellent rate, and will be very comfortable for the next couple of days.

As they don't have an exercise room, and we are finding that sitting in the car the last couple of days has not helped the waiste line (too many donuts Robbie - Krispie Kreams included!!!) we are going to go for a run shortly.

Are heading for the world famous Royal Dyrrell Museum, which has the largest and best dinosaur fossils, tomorrow. It is about an hour's drive out of Calgary, but after that we will find a mall to fill in the rest of the day (if there is any left of it) and may even find a movie theatre.

From there - will head through the hills (and probably more snow by the look of them) and find Ev - arriving his place late Tuesday we are anticipating.

Sorry - no pics today - internet connection not good enough.  Will update when we get to Ev's
