Ola Amigos,

Greetings from Bolivia.  After a day of travelling from Puno to La Paz, we enjoyed a meal for 2 (including wine) for $8.  La Paz is pleasantly cheap and a recommended retirement spot.  Bolivia is the poorest country in South America, with an average annual income of $1,200.

La Paz is the highest capital city in the world (close to 4000 meters) nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains.  When you see the city for the first time from the top of one of the mountains, itīs quite breathtaking.

In the city centre, the streets are narrow and hilly, so weīve been doing a lot of climbing at high altitude.  We now feel well-prepared to challenge anyone to a running race once we get back to sea-level.

We will remember La Paz for itīs hustle & bustle, 1000s of market stalls (selling everything), police guarding banks and ATM machines, and pollution from heavy exhaust.  La Paz is definitely worth the trip.

Re: Hola!!
Hi Veronica,

We arrived in Argentina yesterday and we are in Salta now, off to BA tomorrow.

We had a fantastic steak dinner with fine Argentinian wine last night. We will follow your advice and try out the alfajor and mate.

Re: From Kay

It was actually below zero when we arrived in Uyuni, Bolivia but overall the weather has been great (hardly any rain). In the high altitudes, it really warms up when the sun comes up.

Do you remember the address of the leather shop in Buenos Aires?
