Here is a selection of photos from our trip to Kyoto in April, 2004. We only visited the city for one day, but managed to visit the Imperial Palace and Nijo-jo (the Shogun's castle). Nijo-jo was by far the more interesting site, as we were able to take a walking tour through the residence itself (unfortunately, no pictures were allowed). However, the Imperial Palace gardens were very impressive, and we were able to walk through the inner courtyards of the site and take a bunch of photos.

One of the little surprises at the Imperial Palace was that we had to have our bags searched before entering. It is a national heritage site after all...
