Hi All, So big news today here in Quito. Last night the first female Minister of Defence (and the first Minister of defence with no military history) was killed in a military practice. It was a night practice with helicopters. Her 17 year old daughter was killed too. Some think it was not an accident as the Military did not think much of having a woman in charge. She had just taken office on Jan 15th. Classes are going well. The learning curve is definately slower. Andrew is much better than I am. Tomorrow we spend only 2 hrs in class and the other 2 we go on a field trip with the school to the top of a mountain here in Quito. Today it is "cold" according to the locals. It is 17 degrees! It is raining and the clouds are hanging low over the city. I started a novel yesterday when I was home from class with Brett. Not a good idea as now I am sucked in and all I want to do is read it. Well there isn´t much else to report. Are there any conspiracies at home? Julia
